Medigap Insurance Plans: FAQs for Choosing the Best Policy for You

Medicare Supplements

A Medicare Supplement, also called a Medigap policy is a health insurance policy sold by private insurance companies to help pay some of the costs that Original Medicare does not cover. You must be enrolled in both Part A and Part B in order to be eligible to enroll in a Medicare Supplement.

Medicare Supplement plans are standardized plan with lettered names, meaning that a Medicare Supplement Plan G sold by one insurance company covers the same benefits as a Plan G sold by another insurance company. Even though the benefits are the same, the prices can vary.

With all Medicare Supplements, you have access to any Doctor and any Hospital in the United States, that accepts Medicare. You do not need to worry about referrals, as your Supplement does not require them.
